Last post!

After so many weeks, it's now already time for my last post! I've decided to blog about a Japanese movie that I've recently re-watched again. :)

SKY OF LOVE (Koizora)

Have any of you watched it? It's already my 2nd time watching it and I still cried as bad as I did the first time. I cried like buckets. Seriously. :( Besides, it's extra sad when the main characters are good looking. HAHA. Kidding! This is a really touching story especially for girls. :)

The story was based on a cellphone novel which actually means posting stories through your cellphone. In Japan, it's pretty popular to share stories that you write through your phone. This story caught the director's attention due to it's high popularity (like seriously HIGH) among the Japanese teens.

Here's a summary of the story for those who have yet to watch, taken from http://sg.movies.yahoo.com/Sky+Of+Love/movie/14581/

Based on a cell-phone novel that moved 11 million (told you guys it's HIGH!) people to tears, "Sky of Love" is a story about a regular girl's three stormy years in high school. While her friends are absorbed about their boyfriends, Mika is clueless about falling in love. She begins receiving phone calls from a boy she doesn't know and is gradually drawn to him. She finally meets him but their happy days soon pass as trouble is brewing on the horizon.

Here's the official website (which is in Japanese by the way..) - http://koizora-movie.jp/index.html

The movie was extremely touching. After they have dated for quite a while, the male lead (Hiro) found out that he was diagnosed with cancer and because he doesn't want to be a burden to the girl (Mika) so he left her on purpose. Allowing her to believe that he no longer loves her. She only found out about his sickness when he was pretty much about to die. Which he actually did. Like. WHY?! :(

In the movie, both verbal and non-verbal communications ar used to assist the characters in expressing the feelings they re going through. With the use of non-verbal communication, which is very influential, it helps further emphasise and complement the emotions and thus allowing the audience to be able to feel the pain/happiness that the characters are going through. Thus, making me cry so much!

When you watch the movie, you can actually feel the love that the characters have for each other. The willingness to sacrifice for each other shows how much they do love and care for one another.

It is one good story that is really touching! You guys should totally catch it. Ooh! Remember to prepare some tissues! Haha. :)

BYEEEEEE~

XOXO

  4. the movie sounds interesting, it sounds like the kind of heartache movies that we love each other until we die but not let each other know cos we don't want to hurt each other thing.

very simple and yet a hurting relationship where both lovers who are obviously in love with each other cannot truly show their love in order to protect each other from being hurt.

this verbal and non verbal thing that they have through the love and concern they show for each other is very immense but at the same time showing us how much pain we can put ourselves through if we don't communicate our thoughts well. (:

It is very sweet how Hiro chooses to sacrifice himself to let Mika have her own happiness. I guess that's what love do ey? =)

Very impressive on how non-verbal communication is used to portray their feelings and intensify it to make the audience feel what the main characters are going through.

    Nice! =D

  6. i watched this last year, on my computer, and teared terribly. and my mum came into my room and saw, and she was like stupid girl watch such show, make you cried so much...

but it's really nice. you know japanese movies, they seldom like to communicate a lot through talking, or rather verbally. they would smile and nod their heads most of the time.

on the other hand, they don't really say out their scripts to the other party, but they would imagine and talk about their thoughts to the audience, so i feel it's kind of direct when conveying the message...

the girl wanted to commit suicide in the end, but a gust of wind which was believed to be her lover made her changed her mind and to carry on with her life. this can be portrayed to encourage girls especially, that love is not all in the world, life must go on. if not all old couples would have died together if one passes on before another does...

it's quite a nice movie, where the casts will slowly bring you into the show as if you are part of them.

  8. ohya, the poor unborn. but whole setting feels so high school still, so i guess it's better not to have that child brought to the world. it might create a mess at the ending. where she return for her family like peacefully. (:

  9. really touching show, really send out the warnings of pre-marital relations doesn't it? but what was touching was what the guy did for the girl really, the later part...

  10. The poor baby. But after reading greatest's comment, I think it might infact be better that the baby was not born or else he/she wil have to grow up in an incomplete family which makes it even worse for the child. Maybe it isn't that bad after all. Mika will still have the memories of them together and that is most important isn't it? (:
